REMEMBERING

Meditations on worthiness, presence, and quiet joy.

I felt my soul disturbed by desire. That longing for beauty. I want to touch it, experience it, be wrecked by it. I feel hurt by the idea of growing old. But what is still here? The birds cheering on another day. The warmth of the sun reminding me it's always there. The son performing his duty to take care of the people he loves. Nothing more is required of me. What fantasy are you hoping to live? This is all there is, and all there ever will be. Ease into the moment and your anxiety will disappear. Take care to live in reverence of the Light.

Your task is to sing over your wounds with love. When you wake up, you must decide what love looks like today. When you're stuck in bed, ask yourself what burden you have placed on yourself. Place your feet firmly on the floor, eyes wide, and feel your body ache. That ache is meant to wake you up to what your body needs. Spend time stretching, walking, and nourishing your body -- out of love, not obligation. Never fight for your worth, but cling tooth and nail to the following rule: Worth is remembered, it is not given.

gratitude

The antidote to fear is curiosity — a willingness to let go of control and ask, “What is here?” Those who have known terror know that standing in fear is no easy task. If the past still has its claws in you, the work begins with untangling yourself from what no longer exists. What remains is expectation — the lingering belief that horror could befall you again. But that’s an illusion, meant only to keep you safe. You weren’t made for safety. You were made for adventure.

To feel joy.

To hurt.

To be wholly consumed by life.

No matter what, keep your curious mind.
