Less words, more action.
Step 1
Unplug your keyboard. Then remove key caps with your fingers. Start with the space bar. Then remove the bottom row. It takes some finagling but you'll get there. You don't need a tool for this.
Step 2
Turn your keyboard upside down to remove debris. Vacuum debris with a small device. Do not hold the vacuum against your keyboard.
Step 3
Use Q-tips to loosen the sticky debris. Turn keyboard upside down again.
Step 4
You'll need a small bucket or something to put a bit of water in with a tiny bit of green soap. Use something that is not corrosive. Don't use any alcohol.
Step 5
Throw the caps in the bucket. Let them sit there while you clean the base of the keyboard.
Step 6
Use Q-tips to dip in the soapy water and carefully clean the base of the keyboard. Don't rush. Don't use too much water. Just enough to clean the base with. It'll take a while.
Step 7
Dry your key caps with a clean towel. Shake the caps dry.
Step 8
Use Q-tips to dry the bottom of every cap before putting them back on. It's fun if you take pride in you taking care of the device you use most.
